Fix waveform and proxy devices

appel_c requested to merge fix/fix_waveform_and_proxy_devices into main

Description

This MR fixes the 1D waveform device and its updates. It simultaneously updates to device_monitor_1d and async_data. Needed to further develop 1D plotting tools. Docs will be updated with MR in main.
